He graduated from then Kansas Newman College  (now Newman University) in 1997 with a B.A. in history. Gerber. He served as a parochial vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and  St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. While serving as a parochial vicar. he taught at Kapaun Mt.  Carmel and Bishop Carroll Catholic High Schools. He also served as the associate director of  the Office of Worship for one year. In the fall of 2001, Fr. Borkenhagen was appointed the  spiritual director to the Midwest Catholic Family Conference, a role he filled for nine years. In  2005, he was made the pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons, KS. He served there  for 12 years and then was assigned to further studies in Rome. There, he studied at the Pontifical  University of St. Thomas Aquinas where he earned a License in Sacred Theology in Thomistic  Studies in 2019 and is currently doing doctoral work through the same university.
